Deputies Collared Man on 3 Felony Warrants after West Jones Creek Road Call

The Josephine County Sheriff's Office apprehended a man on one statewide and two local felony warrants in a residential area east of Grants Pass yesterday.

The Sheriff's Office reports deputies arrested 43-year-old Daniel Alexander Achtziger on West Jones Creek Road on Thursday around 11:15 a.m..

Deputies said a West Jones Creek Road resident called 9-1-1 to report a male subject was walking by mailboxes, pulling mail out of them and placing the mail in his backpack. They rushed to the scene and placed the subject into custody.

A routine records check showed Achtziger was wanted on a Oregon State warrant for Parole Violation stemming from a conviction for sexual assault. He was also wanted on Grants Pass and Medford felony warrants for failing to appear in court for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Achtziger was lodged at the Josephine County Jail on a no-bail detainer. A check of his backpack revealed no stolen mail. His belongings were left with a friend at his request.
