Grants Pass police officers and firefighters were busy protecting the community during the week that included the first two days of the Josephine County Fair.
According to the Weekly Report filed by Grants Pass City Manager Aaron Cubic, police officers responded to a total of 661 calls for service along with 218 officer-initiated calls last week which resulted in 53 arrests, 30 citations, 42 warnings and 13 highly-intoxicated people being lodged at the Sobering Center.
Cubic also reported that officers conducted a total of 55 traffic stops in the city and they made 16 referrals to the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS).
The GPPD Community Response Team (CRT) made contact with 17 potential troublemakers while arresting one person, citing four more and warning nine others. The CRT unit also trespassed four individuals and made 54 park checks.
Grants Pass Fire & Rescue responded to a total of 106 calls last week including 42 for emergency medical service, two reports of fire or smoke, 16 lift assists, 11 rescue situations, 10 assists to other agencies and seven false alarms. Firefighters also performed 29 business inspections, led four education/prevention programs, assisted the public at least four times and properly installed four child car seats.
The Grants Pass 9-1-1 Communications Center fielded a total of 1,237 emergency calls last week along with 703 calls for non-emergency service.
