Ducks Sign Nebraska's Quarterback
Nebraska transfer quarterback Dylan Raiola has committed to Oregon, he announced on social media Monday. Raiola, a former five-star recruit, joins the Ducks after starting 23 games over two seasons with the Cornhuskers. Oregon starting quarterback Dante Moore has not declared his decision on entering the NFL draft or staying in school. The Ducks continued to recruit Raiola regardless, raising the possibility that he could serve as Moore's backup and redshirt next season

Tuesday Night Remath-GP at South Medford
It’s a rematch from 12 days ago. The Grants Pass Cavemen play the South Medford Panthers tonight at six in Medford. The teams met in Heater-Newman gym 12 days ago in a nonconference tilt Grants Pass won by one point in overtime. This time it counts in the conference standings. The Panthers and Cavemen are both 0-1 in conference play. The game will be broadcast on KAJO courtesy of the Insurance Lounge.

Other Southwest Conference action has Roseburg at North Medford and Willamette at South Eugene. Other action has Hidden Valley at Klamath Union, North Valley hosting Cascade Christian, Brookings Harbor at Rogue River and the Illinois Valley Cougars at Bandon.

The Lady Cavers are also playing South in the later game tipping off at 7:30. Other girls action mirrors the boys schedule.

Caveman Basketball
The Grants Pass Cavers and Cavemen basketball teams open conference play tonight when both play South Eugene.

The Cavers are hosting the Axe at 6:45 putting their 5 and 7 record up against the 3 and 8 mark of the South Eugene girls. The 3 and 7 Caveman are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 and might be favored over the 6 and 7 Eugene Axe in Eugene.

The Cavemen are ranked 27th by the OSAA while the Axe are 31st. Both games should be competitive, and the Caveman game will be broadcast on KLDR with the pregame 20 minutes prior to the tip off. The broadcast will be brought to you by the Insurance Lounge.

There are no other Southwest Conference games scheduled tonight however, both the boys and girls of North Valley are playing at South Umpqua and Illinois Valley’s Cougars are at Crosshill Christian, again, both boys and girls.

GP Teams Lose in Nevada
The Cavemen and the Cavers both dropped their opening games in Nevada Thursday. The Cavemen lost 66 to 57 to Spanish Springs and the Lady Cavers also succumbed to Spanish Springs 69 to 40. The next opponent for both is Douglas with the girls playing at five this afternoon and the boys following at seven.

Other Local teams in action include the Hidden Valley Boys and girls playing Marshfield, Rogue River hosting Prospect Charter, Illinois Valley is facing Elkton in the Holiday Hoops Classic at 4:15 and the Lady Cougars also facing Elkton at 2:30.

Cavemen Capture Conference Coach & Offensive Player of the Year Awards
The Grants Pass Cavemen football team captured some top honors in the just announced All Conference Selections including Coach of the Year for Matt Kennedy. Junior Brevik Hill was named offensive player of the year, 1st team wide receiver and 1st team defensive back. Joining Coach Kennedy and Hill at the top of the list are Jordan Rossetta, 1st team quarterback, Treyton Powers, 1st team running back, and Alejandro Leon, 1st team kicker. Incidentally, all are in their Junior year. 2nd team honors went to Nate Bassett, tight end and defensive back, Deshon Stinson, center and defensive end, James Traylor, wide receiver, and Elijah Hernandez, offensive tackle. 2nd team honors also awarded to Tyler Meek, linebacker. Honorable mentions went to running back Weston Berg and offensive guards Colton Markey and Tyten Davis. On the defensive side Jhett Stewart, defensive end, Elijah Hernandez, defensive tackle, linebacker Parker Howe and punter Alejandro Leon received honorable mentions

CalOre Championship to be Decided Sunday in Don Burnison Memorial Race
The Cal Ore River Racers conclude their season this weekend with the Don Burnison Cup Memorial Race that will decide the season championship. There is a two way battle for the honor with Norvin Hostler, captain of boat number 50, leading rookie contender Houston Ely, pilot for boat 12, by 309 points. The crown will be decided by who beats who and by how many positions.

During the Labor Day Races, the Rogue River will be closed in designated areas and during designated times. All spectators will remain off the water until the races are over and all spectators will remain 50 feet from the waterway at all times. Movement on the water is Restricted to Law Enforcement, Rescue personnel and Authorized Race Officials during the closures. Private boats are not allowed to assist with crash/rescue operations for safety reasons.

DeLaGrange & Allen Honored by U of O
The "Voice of the Ducks" and student-athletes from football and women's soccer have been selected to receive the University of Oregon Athletic Department's distinguished alumni awards, athletic director Rob Mullens announced Monday. Jerry Allen, who has been announcing games on the Oregon Sports Network since 1985, is synonymous with "The Pick" – his enthusiastic call of Kenny Wheaton's program-altering, 1994 interception against Washington. Allen is the recipient of the 2025 Order of the O honorarium. Offensive lineman Michael DeLaGrange has been named the recipient of the 2025 Leo Harris Award, while soccer goalkeeper Sarah Peters has been chosen to receive the 2025 Becky L. Sisley Award. Both Allen and DeLaGrange are from Grants Pass, Ore., while Peters is from Woodinville, Wash. Ceremonies for the three awards will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 22 USC football ga

Nuggets Drop Season Ending Twin Bill-Eliminated from Post Season
The Grants Pass Nuggets finished up the summer last night with an Area 4 doubleheader against the Eugene Challengers. The Nuggets came up on the wrong side of both ends of the doubleheader losing game 1, 6 to 5 and dropping the nightcap, 7 to 1. Jace McGowen led Grants Pass with 3 hits on the night, while Cole Carnes added 2 hits and 3 runs batted in. The Medford Mustangs finished with a 12 and 4 conference record atop the Area 4 standings. Roseburg is 2nd at 9 and 7. The possibility of a three way tie for 3rd and extend the season existed going into last night’s action. The Eugene sweep eliminated the Nuggets. Redmond split with Medford last night giving Redmond a 7 and 9 record while giving the 8 and 8 Eugene team 3rd in conference and a play-in game Wednesday against Dallas.
